Psychological assessment and evaluation is a step-by-step approach to help understand a person and their behavior, abilities, and personality.  Psychologists use subjective and objective information to identify and measure behavior in order to arrive at a diagnosis.  Diagnoses are used to help professionals guide treatment.  A thorough evaluation will include a 1 to 2 hour interview, and 3 to 4 hours of various assessments. A written report is offered with the findings, along with diagnoses and treatment recommendations. My approach to psychological evaluation begins with a thorough interview to best understand your concerns. Information shared in the interview is then used to create an individually tailored evaluation to identify your personal strengths and areas of growth.  Testing may include measures of intellectual and cognitive abilities, behavioral and social abilities, adaptive behavior, academic skills, visual and auditory memory, attention, perceptual abilities, executive functioning, and personality.  

When appropriate, and with your permission, I also consult other professionals involved in your care (e.g., physicians, teachers, psychologists, attorneys, etc.).  This to ensure your psychological evaluation accurately represents you, and helps to provide the most comprehensive treatment plan.
